Land Acknowledgment

We are gathered here on Staten Island and Snug Harbor Cultural Center on the unceded land of the Lanape peoples. We honor with gratitude the land itself and I ask you to join me in acknowledging the Lanape community, their elders both past, present and future generations. 

 

The mission of the Staten Island Dialogue Project is to build empathy and understanding through the sharing of stories. It is with this same intention that we educate ourselves about the original inhabitants of our island and honor the Lanape by taking steps toward healing and reconciliation for the future dwellers of this land.
